Virgil N. Ulrey, age 91, of Olney, died on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2006 at the Markwell and Son Funeral Home in Casey with Bro. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial was in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery.

He was born October 15, 1914 in Casey, the son of Newton Joshua and Patsy Jane Smith Ulrey. He married Daphena M. Connelly on November 2, 1938 in Terre Haute, IN; she preceded him in death on March 1, 2004.

He was the superintendent for the J.W. Rudy Co. and a farmer. He was a 50 year member of the Clay County Masonic Lodge and attended the Clay County Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Randy Lee Ulrey and wife Bonnie of Salem, daughter Judith Kay Bissey of Lake Placid, FL, grandchildren Manda Donoho and husband Owen of Iuka, IL, Michael Ulrey and wife Sara of Salem, Steven Bissey of Eaton, OH and Eric Bissey of Bainbridge, OH, and two great-grandsons, Kaden Donoho and Seth Ulrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, eight brothers and six sisters.
